Aquafest

We went down to Lake Stevens in Washington for Aquafest and it was a lot of fun! Last year when we went we had just found out that we were expecting...it's amazing how much Violet has grown in one short year. She was bit fussy on the trip and I think it's because she's getting to an age where she realizes she's in a different environment. On the Saturday night Luke and I tried to get her to sleep for a good two hours. In the end we put her playpen in the huge closet and that seemed to do the trick. It seems easier to get her to fall asleep when it's dark and there are few visual distractions.

One of the highlights from the weekend was watching my friend Jess's little girl, Ella, experiencing new things like speed boats, ferris wheels, fireworks and cotton candy. The world through the eyes of a two and half year old....amazing!

The Goodness of Summer

Here's some pics from the last couple weeks....

Our friends got a scooter! So much fun....but I am one sketchy scooter driver!!!! I do not for-see a scooter in our future.

Violet got to see her daddy's band, My Dearest Friends, play a show at the Art Goes Boom Festival in Maple Ridge. I think she really enjoyed it....especially when Luke sang the song he wrote for her called "Little Spark".

Luke went and picked up Amy, Adrianna and Sidney from the Abbotsford airport this morning. This was Violet's first time meeting her cousins. We had a yummy breakfast and then Luke took them to the ferry. We will be heading over to Campbell River late Thursday night for some much needed family time. We're so sad that Amy's husband Steve won't be able to make it this trip as he is busy working on a project...but we will try to have fun nonetheless. :)

I've started on little Miss Violet's room....are you surprised it's not purple?

Family Vacation

We spent this last weekend "vacationing" with some dear friends in Campbell River. It was great spending some time at the beach, relaxing in the garden, and just enjoying each others company. The highlight of the weekend for me was our first annual family talent show....or rather our un-talent show...sadly I don't seem to have any pictures...of our special talent...perhaps next post.
